Black History is American History and the proof is in the pudding! No two African American families are entirely alike and there is so much to learn about how new generations carry forward different American traditions. Join in for our final event to learn about authentic African American cuisine and what goes into planning a family reunion.

We have a special program lineup to close out our celebrations for 2021. We invite you to tune in to this live event and join us afterward for breakout room discussions. Featured guests include:

  • Hosted by William Moore Health Educator with Saint Paul – Ramsey County Public Health
  • The Black National Anthem, featuring vocalist Ashley
  • A reading of the Black History Month Proclamation, recited by Ramsey County Commissioner Toni Carter
  • Remarks from Mayor Melvin Carter
  • Family reunion event planner and family historian Maxine Cunningham
  • Culinary historian, educator, and celebrated author Michael Twitty

Join a Breakout Room discussion

Following the discussion with our speakers, join a small casual breakout conversation to learn about soul food cuisine. Individuals from the Black History Month will be sharing the recipe they use for the following dishes:
