Two Minute Tips for Quality
The University of Washington's Cultivate Learning Resource Library offers a catalogue of Two-Minute Tips that are quick, simple, research-based strategies for youth workers. The tips focus primarily on strategies for working directly with children and youth, but also cover tips for program leadership and self-care. Each tip contains a short introduction, links the strategy to research-based outcomes, provides short practice tips for implementation, and a video of the strategy in action. These can be useful for individuals, or for reflection and discussion as a staff team.
Example: Choose a topic that aligns with your improvement goals. Read through the tip sheet together at a staff meeting.
Discuss:
- What does this look like currently in our program? Who from our team is really good at this?
- What could it look like? What challenges should we plan for? What goals can we think of to build in consistent practices that support this topic?
- Where can we find ideas and resources to learn more?
We have divided the Tip Sheets below to align with the domains of the SEL PQA, however, many of these practices show up throughout multiple domains. Also, note that while these tips are interconnected and reflected in aspects of the PQA tools, these sheets do not directly correlate with the scoring within the SEL PQA.
