FAQs
What food items do I weigh?
Please weigh all food waste that you will be putting in your backyard compost. This includes items you may not typically eat but were produced as part of the food such as peels, rinds, and shells. Both edible and non-edible food scraps should be included.
How often will I receive emails about the program?
We will send out emails when new surveys are posted.
What can I do with my other food waste, like bones and meat?
In Saint Paul, and Ramsey County, there are multiple drop-off locations that accept food scraps—some are even open 24/7! Many residents have backyard compost bins which can accept most food scraps (no meat or dairy). And, of course, you can always throw food scraps in the trash.
